📍 Swim and picnic at Tumalo State Park

Small Deschutes River state park with gentle swim beach, picnic areas, walk-in tent sites, and a paved riverwalk. Less dramatic than Smith Rock but much more relaxing for a half-day with kids.

Good to know

• Day-use fee ($5/vehicle) or use Oregon State Parks pass.
• Water is cold — high 50s most of summer.
• Cottonwoods provide good shade for the picnic area.
