The sno-parks west of Bend (Dutchman Flat, Wanoga, Edison) all maintain free snowshoe trails through old-growth forest. Quiet, easy, and very different from summer hiking. Some sno-parks have warming huts.

Free snowshoe rentals at the Tumalo Visitor Center on weekends in winter.
Best snow December through March.
